Our Organisation Otara Health is a non- government organisation. We provide community development, health promotion and health education services in Otara and other localities in the South Auckland region. We have contract for services with a range of agencies including central government departments, District Health Boards, Auckland Council and Primary Health Organisations. Otara Health plans and delivers services in response to local health and community needs and the health improvement priorities of the Counties Manukau District Health Board, the Ministry of Health and other local and regional government and non-government agencies. We have strong collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders to improve the health and wellbeing of communities.  Our Services and programmes Otara Health’s initiatives focus on promoting healthy communities and healthy environments. In all our approaches we aim to strengthen people's ability to improve their health status and their social wellbeing. We take into account the social, economic and environmental determinants of health and are committed to improving health equity. Our services are designed to reach those with the greatest health need. We deliver a range of services and programmes including Kaitohutohu community health worker services, physical activity and healthy eating programmes and injury prevention and child safety initiatives. Other projects include Te Awatea, a smoking cessation initiative for pregnant women, the Otara smokefree town centre project, alcohol harm reduction projects and youth and community development initiatives (click here for more information).
